About Us

About Us - Trams Shih TzuThank you for visiting Trams Registered Shih Tzu’s website. We are a small breeder of Shih Tzu’s located in Niagara Falls, Ontario and we are members in good standing of the Canadian Kennel Club. All our Shih Tzu’s are on site and live in our home as our pets first. Health and temperament are priorities for us and we are selective of which adults we will breed. Stud service is available – please contact us for details.

Puppies are sent home vet checked, micro-chipped, dewormed, and come with toys, information package and puppy food kit. As well if you decide to purchase a crate we can train your puppy. It is like your puppy is taking their bedroom to their new home and we find it helps the puppies adjust.

We often have a waiting list so please plan early when looking for your new family companion. Our puppies are sold in order of receipt of deposit and once the puppies are born, we send weekly emails with pictures and an update on your puppy. Deposits are non-refundable but can be used towards a future puppy in the next litter. All Trams Registered Shih Tzu’s come with a full health guarantee against any life threatening hereditary or congenital defects for one year and are sold with a non-breeding contract.

We have found our unique breed to be exceptionally trusting, loving and playful. Shih Tzu’s want nothing more than to be with you and to be loved by you. Many owners consider the Shih Tzu to be a “big dog in a little package.” It is sturdy and heavy for its size and has an easy-going temperament. While each dog’s personality is unique, Shih Tzu’s in general have an almost human, childlike nature. They would probably give a burglar a guided tour! Shih Tzu’s are intelligent, non-aggressive and warm hearted givers of love and like nothing more than to nestle in your chair, couch, bed or lap. Because their purpose in life is to please and love you, you will best reach your training and bonding goals by using love, respect and persistence.

Shih Tzu’s have an ancient oriental heritage. Originally bred in the temples of Tibet, they were given as gifts to the Manchu Emperors and were selectively bred as companion dogs by eunuchs in the imperial palaces of Beijing. Eventually they reached other countries (England, Norway, Sweden, France, United States, and Canada).
